That’s the thrill about being in the media, you can always do better"
So said the intangibly mighty media mogul Rupert Murdoch once. In time this quote has become an accurate portent with the group's social media seeing a remarkable turnaround this academic year. Thanks must be given to none other than our very own 3rd year historian and Edinburger Charles McGlone, who is fast becoming the sort of social networking big cheese that surely hasn't even escaped Murdoch's notice! Whether it is alerting our fans to our gigs with the tenacity a pitbull would be proud of or posting the group's traditional pre-gig 'Oscar' selfie, Charles brings class, wit and the sort of reliability to TOG's social media empire CEOs around the world can only dream of.
Charles is far from being a one trick pony however. He has proved time and time again he is a musical lynchpin as first Tenor in the group with the sort of floaty resonant high notes us mere second Tenors can only be jealous of. Even on the 'chat' front (an essential part of TOG's gigs) Charles can deliver charm, humour and off-the-cuff comments which has audiences eating out the palm of his hand.
Whether it is beers in the pub or coffee (no doubt of the Irish variety) at his flat Charles rushes through life fulfilling social engagement after social engagement keeping spirits high wherever he goes. A combination of MIC's Mark Francis, Luciano Pavarotti and Kim K It is surely only a matter of time before this one breaks the internet.
